Another Unexpected Hospital Visit....

Well.... We spent the afternoon up in Labor and Delivery. Stephanie was feeling some contractions and pain, and having some "other baby related things" going on, so we decided she should call the doctors office for their opinion. The doctors office recommended that she come in to get checked out. The doctor checked Stephanie and decided she should go to labor and delivery to monitor for contractions. 

They hooked Stephanie up to the monitoring machines and saw that she was indeed having some pretty good contractions. The doctor still thinks it best to keep the babies in, as they are barely 34 weeks, so Stephanie was given a shot to stop labor. About an hour later, after the contractions had stopped, we were sent home. Its more wait and see!

Dickson Family Back to Normal??

Well we got the good news from the doctor today. As of tomorrow, Stephanie is off of bed rest! YIPPY!! Does that mean she will be able to cook a wonderful Sunday dinner, or go out shopping? No! But, at least she can be up and about the house, go outside, go to church, go and get some dinner, and visit family.

Stephanie is now 34 weeks and everything is looking good. The doctor said that Stephanie has "exceeded her expectations" and that she did really good and bed rest did the job. Stephanie really did a great job with the bed rest, I only had to get after her a few times. I couldn't imagine having to lay down all day, everyday, she was amazing! Good Job Steph!

During our appointment today the doctor "checked her" and she is now dialated to a one and is 50% thinned, meaning things are progressing and progressing well. The babies should be about 5 1/2 pounds now and growing each day. On average, twins gain between 4-5 ounces per week, as opposted to a single baby at about 5-7 ounces per week. Hopefully, the babies will be here in the next couple of weeks and be healthy and strong when born.

Surprise!!! We are throwing you a Baby Shower....right now!

So I am 32 weeks (8 months) pregnant with the twins.  I have been on bed rest now for 6 weeks, and believe me, it is no fun!   I have not left my house in 6 weeks, and boy, a lot has changed.  Gas was somewhere in the $3.50's when I was put on bed rest.  We have been getting a lot of help from  our family and friends, and they have truly been life savers!!  

Well, today I was on the couch doing my Sudoku puzzles and I hear this rustling sound upstairs. I go upstairs to check it out and my friend Monica is in my kitchen with food and presents.  I was like "What are you doing here?!"  She says "We are throwing you a baby shower... today!"  It was a surprise Baby Shower and I had no idea!!  I can't believe my neighbors and friends kept it a secret from me!!!  I was totally surprised!  My friend Kaylene brought her daughter Kylie to do my hair, it looked so cute! (I haven't done my hair in quite a while....it was nice to have it done!)  I honestly have the best friends, family and neighbors anyone could ask for!  They have really helped us out in a time when we really needed it.  It was so nice to see everyone and talk to other people...James can only handle so much talking!!  (Bless his heart, he tries!) The shower was so much fun and really sweet.   Thank you Everyone!!!!!!!!!

Halloween Fun

We had a fun Halloween this year.  I spent most of it from the couch......

I have tried to put away Abby's Princess costume several times.......she will have none of it.  She is wearing it every day.  Oh well, it is so darn cute on her!!  

Pumpkin Fun.....

The kids loved carving their pumpkins this year. I found an application for my iPod Touch that allows you to choose a pumpkin face from a bunch of different face types. After Colby and Abby choose their face, I outlined it and tried to carve it the best I could. And to my amazement the faces actually turned out pretty good. The kids loved the feel of the "pumpkin guts" and both loved to pull the "guts" out of the pumpkin, who would have knows that "pumpkin guts" could get all over the entire house? I am still finding pumpkin stuff all over the house. It was a fun night and the finished products were both scary and funny!

Family Update....

Everything is going well for the Dickson Family, considering Stephanie is still on bed rest. Stephanie for the most part is following doctors orders and staying down, however, there are those times when you just can't lay down anymore and she is up a little. James is going crazy trying to keep the house in order, there is just so much for one person to do around the house, in addition to all the time having to be dedicated to bishopric stuff. James took a day off to get the yard prepared for winter, the flowers, garden, lawn and sprinkling system are now ready for snow.

All in all everything is going pretty well. Stephanie is now 29 weeks, so that leaves about 3 more weeks of bed rest. If Stephanie keeps doing well, the doctor should take her off full bed rest at 32 weeks! It can't come soon enough!

Good News and Bad News for Check-Up #1....

First the bad news, Stephanie is still on bed rest. Now the good news, the bed rest is doing its job. Stephanie is better this week than she was last week. The doctor is encouraged about how this past week went and the results that she saw today after the week of bed rest. The doctor wants Stephanie to continue on bed rest until she hits 32 weeks, which is Nov 18th. So lets hope Stephanie will continue to follow doctors orders and stay down. Its going to be a long five more weeks, but we will make it!
